Event Details

As US troops fought an unpopular war in Vietnam, a movement was building in the United States. Mark Rudd, was an activist and organizer for the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) chapter at Columbia University and one of the leaders of the occupation of 5 buildings in the spring of 1968 at Columbia University.  After being thrown out of Columbia he went on to found the Weathermen and later the Weather Underground of which Bill Ayers was also a member.

All charges dropped and no longer a fugitive, Mark now spends his time talking to young activists, facing an unpopular war of their own in Afghanistan, environmental and economic injustices, about how to create a movement when it seems that “Nothing anyone does can ever make a difference.”

Join us in our latest Brave New Conversation with activist Mark Rudd as he talks about life as an activist, fugitive, building a movement and his new book: UNDERGROUND: My Life in SDS and the Weathermen

Don't be left out of the Conversation: if you can't make the taping join our Facebook page for exclusive pictures and updates from the taping: http://facebook.com/bravenewconversations
